  2. Welcome to the Woods Three actors find themselves in a wonderfully bizarre fairy-tale-like world, where nature, sex, imagination, and religion come together in an unusual discussion about the significance (and insignificance) of life and meaning.
  3. Opening of the Public Tile Project The Public Tile Project features over 2,000 tiles created by students from across the Hudson Valley  and displayed along a 1½ mile trail and on benches along the trail.
  4. Nagelaten (Remains) Nagelaten (Remains) tells a bittersweet story about being young and growing up. An impatient careerist is forced to pick up the old family Volvo from the seventies he has inherited from his father. During the hasty drive back to his office he gets lost and is suddenly confronted with his past by someone very familiar to him.

  15. Book Presentation: The Low Countries. Arts and Society in Flanders and the Netherlands Presents the culture and society of the Dutch-speaking area which embraces both Flanders and also the Netherlands. The articles in the yearbook survey the living, contemporary culture of the Low Countries as well as their cultural heritage.
  16. NY400 Week: NEW YORK 400 / FULBRIGHT @ 60: TRANSATLANTIC DIALOGUE The Fulbright Center and The Netherland-America Foundation will convene a Transatlantic Dialogue focused on issues in education exchange between the U.S. and the Netherlands.

  18. The Wyckoff Farm House The Wyckoff Farmhouse Museum is the oldest structure in New York City, with rooms dating back to 1652. Originally a Dutch West India Company bowery, the Wyckoff Farmhouse is a survivor from the period of New Amsterdam.

  20. Models of Concern: The Exhibition This extraordinary traveling collection of scale models represent the resume of Gilian Schrofers ‘Concern’ – and herewith over four years of wide ranged interior design.

NY400 Week: Open Fort 400 On September 13, Amsterdam Mayor Job Cohen will present the five nominees of the Ymere NAI idea competition 2009 ‘Open Fort 400’, designed to stimulate designers to think about an open fort as the impulse for the further social, cultural and economic development of North Amsterdam.

  27. NY400 Week: Open House Royal Netherlands Navy and NATO ships Explore Royal Netherlands naval frigates and NATO ships- including the Dutch HNLMS Van Speijk and minesweeper Urk - with live music from the Royal Netherlands Navy Band during this 'open decks open house'.
  28. NY400 Week: Premiere 'The New York Connection' This documentary highlights Dutch history in New York City, and discusses the connection between 17th century Holland and modern-day NYC. It includes interviews with Russell Shorto, Charles Gehring, and Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
  29. NY400 Week: Fleet of Traditional Dutch Barges 17 leeboard vessels - not much different from the ones Henry Hudson and his crew used in exploring New York Harbor - will be docked on Governors Island. Captains and crew are on hand to answer your questions about these historic ships.

Experience the typical Dutch way to get around town and ride your Dutch bike to NY400 week events!
  33. NY400 Week: Taste NiEuW Amsterdam Get a taste of Holland during NiEuW Amsterdam Restaurant Week. To commemmorate the purchase of Manna-hata, today's Manhattan, for only 60 Dutch guilders (about $24), restaurants all over town are offering the $24 Taste NiEuW Amsterdam Menu.
  34. Myths and Realities Regarding New Netherlands A Staten Island Perspective. A half-day conference and panel discussion to commemorate and evaluate Henry Hudson’s voyage on the Half Moon and his arrival in “The New World” 400 years ago.
  35. New Amsterdam History Center discussion and exhibit The New Amsterdam History Center (NAHC), in collaboration with the New Netherland Institute, is arranging the discussion and exhibit at Federal Hall.
  36. Rensselaerswijck Seminar 'Kiliaen van Rensselaer's Colonie: The Beginning of European Settlement of the Upper Hudson' The seminar focuses on the Rensselaerswijck patroonship and genealogical resources for tracing one's Dutch ancestors both here and in the Netherlands.
  37. Dutch Roots and More Bike Tour This off-the-beaten-path bike tour allows you experience rarely visited parts of modern New York while also discovering its rich Dutch heritage.
  38. Hudson River Valley Heritage Weekend During this first Hudson River/Champlain Valley Heritage Weekend, over 100 museums, historic and architecturally significant places, heritages sites, battlefields, parks, and recreation areas will welcome visitors free or at reduced rates. Among the participants are many Dutch heritage sites.
  39. People of Cape May v. Johan Van Buren Frank Visser, Dutch television's famous "Driving Judge," and East Lynne Theater Company are joining forces to present a world premiere comedy, People of Cape May v. Johan Van Buren.
  40. NY400 Week: Harbor Day Ride an NY400 bike, take in the beauty of the City on a free ferry ride, and watch the grand Harbor Day fleet. Even four centuries after Hudson's arrival, New York Harbor is the place to be!
