Watch this Week’s Reel 13 Winner
May 9th, 2008 at 11:23 am

This week, the short films that competed for your vote all thwart expectations in their own ways. In “William Klein: Out of Necessity,” photographer William Klein expounds on his unconventional aesthetic, “Methods” plays with portrayals of thespian stereotypes, and “Standby” examines a moment when a mother fails her son. So which film won?

Winner: “Methods”
“Methods” is a short, satirical documentary-style film that follows a day in the life of a creatively blocked and malignantly narcissistic method actor named Vincent Scarry. Directored by Alexander Koltchak.

“Methods” will be broadcast on Thirteen Saturday night, sandwiched between the Reel 13 Classic and the Reel 13 Indie films.

Congratulations is also in order for our runners up.

First runner up: “Standby”
What kind of champion should a mother be for her gay son? Directed by Tony Osso.

Second runner up: “William Klein: Out of Necessity”
William Klein is an artist, photographer, and filmmaker who rarely grants interviews. He is known for pushing photographic technique to its limits. Directed by Douglas J. Sloan.
