World Science Festival: Parallel Universes
Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Do you accept the many worlds interpretation of quantum physics? Do you even know what that is? Either way, head over to The Paley Center for Media tonight and see a screening of Mark Everett’s “Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives.” Everett, the creative force behind indie rock outfit Eels, “embarks on a personal journey to understand the astounding contribution that his reclusive father Hugh Everett made to physics — the theory of parallel worlds.”

The documentary screens at 6:00pm. Afterwards, theoretical physicists Michio Kaku (listen to his radio show below), Max Tegmark, and Brian Cox will join Everett to discuss the recent interest in his father’s work.

Catch a glimpse of the documentary here.

For more information about parallel worlds, watch “Welcome to the 11th Dimension,” the third installment of NOVA’s “Elegant Universe.”

Can’t make it tonight? You’re in luck: “Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives” will air this fall on NOVA. Visit NOVA online to sign up for schedule updates.

The World Science Festival runs today, Thursday May 29th, through Sunday June 1st. View the event schedule. Some of the lectures/events will be available via Thirteen Forum at a later date, you can sign up for Forum announcements on the page.

Personally I do not belive in this. It seems more like pure speculation based on numbers that could mean almost anything. It does not mean anything, it does not really affect everyday life at all, and it has no practical benefits at all.
