The Pope’s Weeklong U.S. Visit

Pope Benedict XVI arrived in the U.S. yesterday for his first visit as pope. He told reporters on his plane that the Catholic sex scandal is almost beyond comprehension and that the priesthood was “absolutely incompatible” with the sexual abuse of children.

Today, thousands of guests are gathering at the White House as President Bush prepares to greet the pope.
