Israel’s 60th Anniversary
Thursday, April 10th, 2008

May 14th will mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of the modern state of Israel. But according to The New York Times, public morale is low in Israel as a result of the recent war in Lebanon and a general sense of mistrust for the government. A growing petition is calling for the money currently earmarked for the celebration to be spent instead on health, education and infrastructure projects.
