    Changing some of the language we use to discuss issues may change our thinking, and lead to positive actions. The term “environment” is often understood to be “out there,” which we are urged to “stewards OF.” There is no “out there.” We might instead speak of “identity WITH an ecological system of which we are all a part.” And, recognizing that an acorn “develops” into an oak tree,let’s no longer speak of “undeveloped wilderness” or “undeveloped farmland,” and leave the term “development” to destroyers of rainforests and constructors of strip malls.
