New York’s Proud Baseball History Continues Tonight at Yankee Stadium
Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

On July 11, 1939, Lou Gehrig and Joe DiMaggio took the field for Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game — held at Yankee Stadium for the first time. Tonight, the midsummer classic returns to the “House That Ruth Built” for the fourth and final time.

Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera and Alex Rodriguez will have the crowd in their corner, representing the Yankees playing for the American League. Mets David Wright and Billy Wagner might not receive as warm a welcome playing for the National League.

Before tonight’s first pitch, hear from past all stars who played in New York as they appeared on Charlie Rose. Watch Yankees greats Yogi Berra, Reggie Jackson, Dave Winfield and Jason Giambi; and former Mets stars Keith Hernandez and Al Leiter.
