This Day in History: Sesame Street Debuts, 1969
Monday, November 10th, 2008

On Nov. 10, 1969, Sesame Street, with its cast of puppets teaching kids the alphabet and how to count, made its broadcast debut (here is the rundown of that very first show). Today, it is one of the most widely-viewed children’s programs in the world, airing in more than 120 countries. The show also boasts a total 118 Emmys, more than any other program in the history of the awards.

Check out Sesame Street’s new web site and a list of some of our favorite skits, songs, and segments here.

Gordon sings “Consider Yourself”, from the first episode of Sesame Street ever.

What happened to the old Angelina Ballerina, which was on KLCS at 8.00? It was the greatest show on earth, but if the old one was removed by the producers it will be missed.
