As part of the Heritage television series of in-depth interviews with public figures, Eleanor Roosevelt discusses her early home life, education, political life, and the importance of learning.

She also speaks briefly about the formation of the Democrat and Republican parties and the political aspiration and early career of her husband, Franklin Roosevelt.

She talks about her life with Franklin D. Roosevelt, the influences in his life that led him to a life in politics, the effects his illness had on his career, the effects of raising a family in the public eye, and the domestic impact of the New Deal.

Heritage was an early educational television program that pre-dated PBS. It ran during the late 1950s and consisted of multi-hour interviews with public figures both historical, sociological, artistic, and political–economists, archaeologists, poets, etc. Notable interviews include Mies Van Der Rohe, Eleanor Roosevelt, Robert Frost, and many more.
