This Day in History: Statue of Liberty Arrives in NY, June 17
Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

In 1885, the Statue of Liberty arrived in New York Harbor aboard French ship Isere, which transported the statue from France to the US. For transport, the Statue of Liberty was reduced to 350 individual pieces. In the 2002 PBS documentary film “American Stories: The Statue of Liberty” Ken Burns explores both the history of America’s premier symbol and the meaning of liberty itself.

I am with a publishing company who is doing a book on the history of the Statue of Liberty. Could you tell me the origin of the image of the face of the statue next to a person on your web? I would like to see if we could use this in a book.
    Thanks!
