This week, Reel 13 featured a short film about the hardship of a young Mexican girl and a short about two ideologues reconciling their differences. You voted, now find out which film won.

Winner: La Chiva (The Goat)
La Chiva is an inspiring tale that traces the indomitable spirit of a poor Mexican girl. Based on a childhood experience of the filmmaker’s mother, Gloria. Director by Akiva Penaloza.

 

You can catch La Chiva (The Goat) on the air this Saturday, August 2 between the Reel 13 short and indie films.

Runner-up: Do You Have a Minute?
Conservative Christian George and atheist feminist Liz have a chance encounter while protesting on a busy sidewalk and can’t help but wonder – can red state people and blue state people find love? Directed by Erik Gernard.
