Street Art, Street Life: The Street as Site of Globalization
Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Photographers Martha Rosler and Jamel Shabazz from the exhibition “Street Art, Street Life” discuss their work and its larger cultural context. They look at the complex social, political, and economic conditions of globalization in the context of contemporary photography, as well as the street as a venue and source of inspiration for artists from the 1950s through today.

This event is moderated by Whitney Rugg, a curatorial fellow at the The Bronx Museum of the Arts. The exhibition is on view from September 14, 2008 through January 31, 2009. This event was held by The New School, and was presented with support from the Kettering Family Foundation and the Henry Nias Foundation, and by public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.
