Thirteen/WNET New York seeks a Senior Major Gifts Officer (SMGO) to serve on its Development team. The individual selected will manage a portfolio of donors and prospects with the capacity to give Major Gifts for restricted purposes for Thirteen/WNET and WLIW21.

The SMGO will identify new prospects from outside the current donor pool, cultivate those relationships, identify gift opportunities that match donor interests, and secure major gifts from these prospects. The SMGO will work with trustees and senior managers to cultivate major donors and also will solicit gifts personally.

Finally, the SMGO will support the entire Development team in achieving the overall goals of the department.

Thirteen/WNET and WLIW21 are seeking a seasoned and sophisticated Major Gifts professional, with a strong knowledge of the New York philanthropic environment and a successful track record of closing major gifts ($500,000+) from individuals. The ideal candidate will have five years of experience raising major gifts for cultural institutions.

This position requires excellent interpersonal communications and writing skills, the ability to take initiative, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
